Funeral services for Weston Cash Colvin will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 8, 2020 at Owens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bob Deich and Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Visitation for Wes will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 P.M., June 7, 2020 also at Owens Memorial Chapel.

Weston "Wes" Cash Colvin, beloved husband, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed away at home with his family in the early morning hours of Thursday, June 4, 2020. Born on November 12, 1987, and raised in and around Ruston, Wes graduated Ruston High School in 2007 and attended Louisiana Tech University, majoring in sociology graduating in 2012. He was active in the Band of Pride, Acacia fraternity, and Phi Mu Alpha. Wes started his scouting journey in 1994 as a Tiger Cub in Pack 86, and later as a Boy Scout in Troop 59 both in Ruston. He was a Chaplain Aide and later a Senior Patrol Leader while attending two National Jamborees. Wes was elected to Comanche Lodge, Order of the Arrow in 2001, and served many years as staff for Camp T.L. James and Camp Attakapas. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2006 and was elected Vigil honor in Comanche Lodge, serving two terms as Lodge Chief. While at Louisiana Tech, he served as Program Director 2009-2011 for the Louisiana Purchase Council Summer Camps. During these years on camp staff, Wes met Emalee, the love of his life. Along with his involvement in LPC Summer Camps Wes also worked with Cape Cod and Islands Council in the summer during his time at Louisiana Tech as part of the Summer Camp Staff. After graduation, Wes became a District Executive with the council and continued his passion for summer camp as Camp Director from 2012-2014. After dating several years, Wes and Emalee were married July 26, 2015 on Cape Cod. Of all his accomplishments in scouting, Wes was most proud of the 12 years serving on Camp staff, and as Camp Director, where he saw many young camp staffers become men, as well as best friends. Wes was proud that, even in a small way, he might have made an impact on the outstanding people these staffers became.

In addition to his involvement with Scouts, Wes loved all genres of music especially, 60's, 70's, 80's and remained an avid listener and enjoyed an eclectic collection of music throughout his life. He also shared his father's fascination with history, loved the outdoors, and followed multiple sports especially his beloved Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, New Orleans Saints and Liverpool F C and delighted in cooking delicious food for family and friends.

A man of great faith and understanding, Wes grew up in the Ruston Church of Christ, and later he and Emalee became members of Grace United Methodist Church. As with most other matters, Wes's thoughtful approach to believing allowed him to peacefully discuss faith with anyone with great patience and compassion, whether or not they shared the same viewpoint.

Wes was preceded in death by his father, Dennis D. Colvin; grandparents, Frederick H. and Shirley H. Beavers, George L. and Catherine G. Colvin; and cousin Matt McIlwain.

Wes is survived by his wife, Emalee E. Colvin, of Ruston; mother, Donna B. Colvin, of Ruston; brother Mac Colvin and spouse, Amanda Mercadal Colvin, of Metairie; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, adopted family, and friends who all adored him without measure. He left the world better i being with us and will be greatly missed every day.

Serving as pallbearers will be Lee Aycock, Richard Crise, L.D. Lacy, John McIlwain, Daniel Moore and Nick Wagner. Honorary pallbearers will be Mac Colvin, Tyson Baldwin, Darren Gantt, Ethan Herring, Will Long, Chris Beavers, Jimmy Colvin, Rush Colvin, Shane Colvin and Tommy Colvin.
