Private graveside services for Wanda Wessels will be held Thursday, February 20, 2020 with Rev. Bob Deich officiating. Services will be under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.  A public Celebration luncheon will follow at Grace United Methodist Church at 11:30 AM.

Wanda Marcella Rice Wessels, 81, of Ruston, LA, passed away February 17, 2020. She was born June 3, 1938 in Pansy, AR, daughter of Charlie Joe and Velma Beatrice Sparks Rice. Wanda grew up and was educated in White Hall, AR and married husband Charles H. Wessels, August 23, 1953. Wanda and Charles moved to Ruston, December 1971. Wanda was busy as a realtor and business owner. She enjoyed being active with her friends in Beta Sigma Phi, serving as officers, Chair of their Arts and Crafts at the Peach Festival and scrapbooking. She also enjoyed traveling with family and friends, embroidering and serving in all the churches she attended.

Mrs. Wessels was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, C. J. and her sister, Mary Claudetta.
Survivors include her husband, Charles H. Wessels, of Ruston; daughter, Deborah Penny of Little Rock, AR and her children, Jonathan Penny and his wife, Michelle of Lombard, IL and children William, Charles and Martin (great-grandsons), Maricatherine Finley and her husband, Jason of Sacramento, CA and child, Thomas (great-grandson); son, Carl Wessels and his wife, Denise of Waxahachie, TX and their children Billy, Melanie and Ben; son Kenneth Wessels and his wife, Kay of Benton, LA and their daughters Kendra Linck and her husband, Cameron of Ft. Collins, CO and Courtney of Ruston; one brother, Bruce Wayne Rice and his wife, Gina of White Hall, AR and their children Stephen and his wife, Jennifer and their children, John Steven McGayhey and Caroline McGayhey of White Hall, Amy Rice and her twin boys Blake and Ethan Rice of North Little Rock, Mandy and her husband, Jay Taylor of White Hall, AR and children, Lottie and Reed Dice.
