Graveside services for Virginia Otwell Cassel, age 86 of Ruston, Louisiana will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Rock Corner Cemetery in Dubach with Pastor Michael Hawley officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Virginia passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019. She was born on July 4, 1932 in Ruston, where she raised four children with her beloved husband of 60 years, Billy Ray.  As a child, she attended Rock Corner Baptist Church, later attending Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ruston with her husband and children.

Surviving members of Virginia's family include three daughters: Carolyn Albritton and husband Joe of Olive Branch, MS; Cindy Hinton and husband Steve of Ruston; Belinda Wisterman and husband Terry of Gibsonville, NC; and son Brian Cassel and wife Michelle of Ruston. Grandchildren include Jennifer Swearingen and husband Larry of Collerville, TN; Patricia Reeve and husband Nick of Charlottesville, VA; Wade Hinton and wife Caitlin of Calhoun, LA; Brett Hinton and wife Kenna of Ruston;  Sarah, Rebecca and Joseph "Daniel" Wisterman of Gibsonville, NC. Great grandchildren include Hunter, Hayden and Mady Crawford of Olive Branch, MS;  Hayes Albritton of Fort Collins, CO; Sam, Adam and Thad Reeve of Charlottesville, VA; Owen, Ty and Elizabeth Hinton of Calhoun; and Alyssa Leblanc of Houma, LA. Siblings include her sister Billy Sue Younce and brother Glen Otwell.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Billy Ray; grandson Daniel "Tyler" Albritton; parents Robert and Rena Otwell; brother Rayburn Otwell; and sisters Dorothy Farley and Ann Taylor.

Pallbearers will be Joe Albritton, Wade Hinton, Brett Hinton, Mike Otwell, Chevy Vedros, and Terry Wisterman.  Honorary pallbearers are Glen Otwell, Jim Shrell, Harold Shrell, and Bobby Taylor.  The family would like to thank Princeton Place Skilled Nursing & Rehab and Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care of Virginia. Donations can be made on behalf of Virginia to the Alzheimer's Association.

Visitation will be held at 9:30AM until 10:30AM, Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Rock Corner Baptist Church in Dubach, LA.
