Sylvia Diane Wilson, maiden name of Overstreet, passed away on October 10, 2026, in Arcadia, Louisiana, at the age of 77. Born on September 28, 1949, in Gorman, Texas, to Eddie Overstreet and Vesta Lee Overstreet, Sylvia lived much of her life surrounded by her family in Louisiana.
Sylvia’s legacy of love, faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of her family and all those she touched. Her life was a testament to the special blessings found in family, faith, and the simple joys of being together. She had a beautiful way of filling ordinary moments with laughter and creating memories that will be cherished for generations.
On April 9, 1971, Sylvia married the love of her life, Denis Wilson, in Hollister, Oklahoma. Their marriage of 53 wonderful years was a testament to a lifetime of shared experiences, companionship, and love. Together, they built a family and a life filled with moments that will forever remain a treasured part of their family's story. Sylvia is survived by her brothers, Steve Overstreet and Randy Overstreet; her daughter, Dee Dee Thomas, and her husband, Chris Thomas; and her daughter, Dena Sanchez, and her husband, Samuel Sanchez. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Gavin Thomas and his wife, Graycen Thomas; Kinsley Graham and her husband, John Riley Graham; and Jaeger Williams; as well as her great-grandson, Stetson Thomas.
Above all, Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who delighted in caring for and doting on those she loved. Her daughters held a special place in her heart, and she treasured the time spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. She especially loved birthdays and the joy of celebrating the people she loved so dearly. Her enthusiasm for birthday celebrations became a special blessing she passed on to her entire family, creating a tradition of making loved ones feel remembered, celebrated, and cherished. Whether traveling to the beach, shopping with her daughters, gathering around the table for a delicious family meal, or celebrating a special occasion, Sylvia found such joy in simply being with the people who meant the most to her.
Sylvia was also a faithful servant of Christ. Her faith was an important part of her life and remains a meaningful part of the legacy she leaves behind. Sylvia and Dennis were members and servants of RiverPark Church in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Sylvia had an infectious sense of humor and a personality that brought warmth and liveliness to every gathering. She was known for her fashionable style, her love of young Elvis movies and music, and her fiercely competitive spirit when it came to board games and cards. Playing with Sylvia was never just a game; it was an opportunity to share laughter, good-natured competition, and the kind of moments that become cherished family stories.
Her spirit will live on in family gatherings, birthday celebrations, trips to the beach, shopping adventures, spirited games, favorite Elvis songs, and the countless loving remembrances.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jaeger Williams, Gavin Thomas, Samuel Sanchez, Chris Thomas, John Riley Graham, and Kevin Graham.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October, 14, 2026 at Owens Memorial Chapel. If you would like to leave an online memorial message for the family, please visit: www.owensmemorialfuneralhome.com
