Memorial services for Sue Ann Williams Herter, age 72, of Ruston, LA will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Longstraw Baptist Church with Brother Larry Emory officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Sue Ann Williams Herter, daughter of the late L.L. "Red" and Hazel Williams, was born March 31, 1949 in Magnolia, AR. Mrs. Herter passed away peacefully on July 9, 2021 at her home surrounded by her immediate family after a brief illness. As a young mother, she was a member of Arnaudville Missionary Baptist Church and Pitkin Baptist Church, where she was an active member and Sunday School teacher. Once moving to north Louisiana, she eventually became a member of Longstraw Baptist Church near her home in Kellys.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Herter, great granddaughter, Mattie Jean Posey, and nephew, Joe Williams. She is survived by her children: Amanda Duke (Scott), Suzette Austin (Danny), Sherri Colvin; grandchildren: April Bagwell, Robin Posey (Gene), Kristina Wheelis (Jonathan), Haley Bonnette (Ragan), Mitchell Austin, Mallory Bryant (Brandon); great grandchildren: Braden and Cameron Bagwell, Blakelyn and Ronni Posey and Cohen Wheelis; brother, Dolph Williams (Kim) and nephew, Heath Williams (Trent).

As a young girl, Sue Ann's parents installed in her wonderful work ethics as they were considered entrepreneurs starting several businesses through her younger years. Sue Ann was able to carry forth those work ethics as a stay-at-home mom when her children were a younger age as a seamstress. She was a member of the local homemaker's club; she attended bazaars and entered crafts in local parish fairs where she won multiple awards.

Later in life, Sue Ann and her family moved to Kellys, LA where they ran the family-owned restaurant, Kellys Kitchen. Once her parents retired, she took over the other family-owned business, Wil-Mart. Throughout this adventure her girls worked along side her where she was able to teach them responsibilities they have now taken on to their personal careers. In 2002, she married Gerald Herter and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with him.

Sue Ann was very proud of her girls, grand children, and now great grandchildren. Her crafty skills once again came into play as she has always welcomed her grands with a special made baby quilt or afghan. Stored away are five more, for future babies to come. Her last project was to make a special afghan for her soon to be arrived seventh great grandbaby, Ella Kate Bonnette.

If you walked into her house, you would know she loved hummingbirds, peacocks, and red birds. In her last days she enjoyed watching the birds from her recliner. Her girls kept the feeders full of seeds they had hung in the windows for easier view until the squirrels found them and she said, "TAKE THEM DOWN".

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to mom's very special friend, Toni Holland, and sitters, Tomeki Holland and Kay Powell, as well as Melissa Maddox, Kim Frazier-Roberson and Felicia Venzant-Malone with Premier Hospice that became very close and dear to all of us during this difficult time.

As her Granny always told her and we repeated to her multiple times, "We love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck".
