Funeral services for Sonya Belinda Bratton, age 53 of Ruston will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Reggie Bridges and Rev. Marty Payton officiating. Internment will follow in Vienna Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Sonya was born April 24, 1967 in West Monroe, LA and passed away January 10, 2021 in Ruston, LA.  She was a resident of Ruston for 53 years, where she graduated from Ruston High and worked at MJB Wood Group for 21 years.

Sonya had a bubbly personality and a laugh that would light up a room. She loved her children, Zach and Madison, with all her heart. Sonya devoted all her time and energy into being there for their activities, whether it was football, baseball, cheerleading, or dance. She was their biggest supporter and number one fan. Sonya loved her sisters and brother and was always the best big sis to all of them. They will always share many fond memories together. She especially loved her Mom and Dad. The bond of love she had with them will never be broken.

Sonya was preceded in death by grandparents: Riley Thomas and wife Minnie, John C. Davis and wife Una Bell.

Sonya is survived by mother: Eudora Thomas Davis of Ruston, LA; father: Virgil Lee Davis and wife Yvette of Jonesboro, LA; son: Zach Garner and wife Olivia of Ruston, LA; daughter: Madison Bratton; brother: Tommy Davis and wife Brooke of Bernice, LA;  sisters: Angel Corie and husband Kevin Corie of Ruston, LA, and Alicia Fleming of Sterlington, LA; grandson: Dawson Sills; nieces: Morgan Corie and husband Brady Kumler, Lindsey Corie, Meghan Davis, Kelsey Davis, Ryleigh Davis, Brooks Avery Davis, Jordyn Davis, and Anna-McKenzi Fleming; nephews: Tripp Fleming, Cooper Fleming, and Hunter Maloy.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Davis, Danny Garner, Chris Thomas, John Denny, Heath Hightower, and Mike Baxter.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.
