Funeral services for Ms. Shane Wheeler will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 6, 2021 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston, LA with Rev. Drew Spillers officiating.  Burial will follow in New Light Baptist Church Cemetery in Monroe, LA under direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Shane Wheeler of Choudrant, Louisiana was reunited with her husband on August 3, 2021 at age 74.

She was born in Thibodaux, Louisiana to the late Harry and Bernice Benoit of Chackbay, on June 27, 1947.  After graduating high school, she met her husband of 41 years, Wilbur Wheeler, while working at a small cafe.  Together, they had four children: David, Robyn, Kelly, and Krystal.

Shane was a devoted wife, mother, and Granny.  She never missed an activity with her children or grandchildren.  She loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family and friends.  Sunday family dinners were very important to her.  In her younger years, she enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, reading, and Dr. Phil.  Card playing with her would last for hours. Shane loved getting to know people and interacting with the community. It always made her day to see everyone's smiling faces coming through Spillers Texaco in Choudrant, Louisiana.

She is survived by her children: David Wheeler (Tammy) of Choudrant, La, Kelly Berry (John) of Gladewater, Tx, and Krystal Otwell (Chris) of Dubach, La; grandchildren: Kristal Stuckey, Karlie Chandler (Dylan), Skylar Wheeler, and Kennedi and Kamryn Otwell; and great granddaughter: Hayslee Mathis.

She is preceded in death by husband, Wilbur, and daughter, Robyn.

Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Holstead, J. R. Maddox, Ben Christmas, Brad Stuckey, Tim Maddox, Tim Smith and honorary pallbearers, Bobby Joe Thomas, Buddy Williams, Dwayne Dugdale and Dwight Lamkin.
