Mrs. Ruby Nell Crawford Ellis, age 88 of Dubach, LA, died peacefully at her home on Friday, September 10, 2021, after a brief illness.  Ruby was born in Ruston, LA, on January 28, 1933, to Thelma Alexander Crawford and Claude David Crawford.

Mrs. Ellis is preceded in death by her husband, R.C. "Chick" Ellis; her oldest brother, Emmett Crawford; her big sister, Melba Barmore, who literally lived across the pond; her twin sons, Mark Porter and David Porter; and Joseph Charles "Chuck" Ellis.

Mrs. Ellis is survived by her youngest brother, J.D. Crawford and wife, Kimmie; her sons: John Gregory "Greg" Porter and Judson Dana Porter; and her extended family of Stephen Phillip Ellis and wife, Brenda of Greenville, SC, Stacie Ellis Jimerson and husband, Jesse, of Arcadia, LA, and daughter-in-law Lynn Creech.  Ruby's local grandchildren: Judson Porter, Clayton Porter, and Brandy Stevens who loved her dearly.  All told, she had 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  She leaves behind a very special friend, Erma Hudson, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends that are simply too numerous to list.

A service commemorating and celebrating Ruby's life will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 11:00 A.M., at New Prospect Baptist Church in Dubach.   Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. with her service immediately following.  Officiating will be Dr. Steve Ellis, Rev. Marvin Winham and Rev. Terry Ganey.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to New Prospect Baptist Church, Building Fund, 3438 Highway 167, Dubach, LA 71235 or Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, 7200 Desiard St., Monroe, LA  71203.
