Ricky McDaniel, age 71, of Ruston, LA, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020. He was born in Winnfield, Louisiana on May 24, 1948. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ferne McDaniel, his daughter Kim Gilliam and her husband Michael Gilliam.

Ricky was an extremely talented artist and musician.  He learned to play several instruments, but playing the blues on one of his many guitars was his favorite.  Ricky loved to go to interesting places and learn the deep history associated with each place, and then tell the story of these places to his daughter and son-in-law.  Ricky loved hiking with his wife Ferne, especially in the Hot Springs, Arkansas area, where they went often.  He had a soft, kind heart, always glad to take in and care for a stray kitten.  Ricky was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.

A private family memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
