Graveside services for Rachel Calahan, age 84 of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Cook Cemetery in Ruston with Rev. Reggie Bridges and Rev. Dale Oden officiating.  Services are under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Rachel retired from Delta Airlines and volunteered as a Pink Lady at Lincoln General Hospital.  She loved reading, doing puzzle books and playing and watching tennis.  Rachel was a lifelong member of Temple Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by three sisters:  Merrie Ann Sears, Billie Calahan and Ruth Hargrove and three loving dogs:  Sassy, Beau and Scooter.

Rachel is survived by a brother, Claude Calahan, Jr. of Shreveport, LA; sister, Maxine Grant of Madisonville, KY; nieces and nephews:  Gordon Calahan and wife, Laurie of Shreveport, LA, Melanie Calahan Walz of Dallas, TX, Mickey Grant of Madisonville, KY, Kay Wayne Hargrove and wife, Sandra of Oakdale, LA, Jerry Andrews of Ruston, LA, and Donna and husband, Eddie Wayne Horton of Bernice, LA; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers are Tyler Dendy, Hunter Dendy, Lakin Horton, Will Welch, J. R. Horton and Jess Smith.  Honorary pallbearers are Tate Hanson, Derby Hanson, Chandler Welch, Chris Welch, Hal Ladner and Alex Walz.
