Quintana "Tana" Daneen Barber Atkins, age 60, entered the eternal presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 1, 2025, following a brave and steadfast battle with cancer.  She faced each day with remarkable strength, grace, and unshakable faith. While we deeply mourn her absence, our hearts find comfort in knowing she is now whole and radiant, worshipping before the throne of God for all eternity. Tana's life was a beautiful reflection of Christ's love, and her enduring legacy of faith will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.

Tana is survived by her loving husband, Elliott Atkins; daughter, Mary Speller, and husband James of Calhoun; son, Parker Atkins, and wife Miranda of Ruston; two granddaughters, Charlie Speller, and Maisie Speller of Calhoun; parents, William "Daddy Bill" and Bennie "Mawmaw" Barber of Calvin; sisters, Quanah Hatten and husband Robbie of Dry Prong, and Quanita "Pete" Gaar and husband Shelby of Dodson; five nephews; three nieces; and a host of other family and friends.

Tana is preceded in death by father-in-law, William Lavon Atkins; mother-in-law, Mary Patricia Atkins; and nephew, Cody Bray.

Tana was the true embodiment of love, grace, and devotion. As a wife, she poured her heart into her marriage, standing as a constant source of strength, tenderness, and unwavering support. Her love was quiet but deep, evident in every thoughtful act, every shared smile, and every moment of comfort she gave. She created a home filled with warmth and compassion. A sanctuary built on loyalty and care. To her husband Elliott of 42 years, she was not only a partner, but a soulmate, best friend, and a guiding light. Her devotion will remain an enduring legacy of what it means to truly love and be loved.

Tana was a woman whose heart knew no bounds when it came to her family. As a mother to Mary and Parker, she was nurturing, patient, and endlessly devoted-always offering her love, wisdom, and encouragement. As a grandmother "Nena" to her two precious granddaughters, she brought joy, gentle laughter, and the kind of unconditional love that leaves a lasting imprint on a child's heart. One of Tana's greatest joys in life was cheering on her children from the sidelines. Whether it was early morning practices or late evening games, she never missed a chance to be there. With pride in her eyes and encouragement in every cheer, she brought energy, love, and warmth to every game. The bleachers were her front-row seat to moments she treasured, and her support was a gift that will never be forgotten. She later got to continue that same passion for her granddaughter Charlie. It was not out of ordinary to look in stands and witness Nena cheering for Charlie while holding Maisie in her lap. She had the power to give equal love and support both granddaughters at the same time. It was one of her superpowers that we will admire forever.

Tana dedicated her career to hard and honest work, spending time at Hinton's Seed and Garden and Twin Oaks Nursery, where her love for plants and nature shone through. She also served families in her community by cleaning homes with care and integrity. In later years, she brought her warm spirit to the cafeteria at RJHS, working as the clerk, where she greeted students and staff each day with kindness and a smile.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in the hope we hold. Tana was a faithful and devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and we find peace in knowing she is now in His presence- fully restored and rejoicing in the joy of Heaven for all eternity.

The family invites you to join them in celebrating Tana's life during the visitation on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Vernon Cemetery, with Rev. Brad Jones and Rev. Jim Manning officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA. A time of fellowship will follow at the Vernon Baptist Church fellowship hall.
