Graveside services for Merle Glynn Clary, age 87 of Jonesboro, will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Gayla Traina Memorial Cemetery in Jonesboro with Bro. Lynn Treadway officiating under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Merle was born February 25, 1931 to the union of Clara and Charlie Lea Perry, Sr. and passed from this life Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Ruston Nursing and Rehab after a lengthy illness and period of declining health.  Merle was a lifelong resident of Jonesboro, LA living her life in the same house that she and her husband James bought in 1955.  She was a lifetime member of the Hodge United Pentecostal Church from childhood.  Merle enjoyed collecting and filing and distributing local history and news of family happenings to people she thought would enjoy them.  She lived her life as a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and was lovingly called "Nanny" by the family. Thank you Lord for 87 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, V. James Clary; father: Charlie Lea Perry, Sr.; mother: Clara Russell Perry Bramlett; 3 brothers: Charlie Lea Perry, Jr. and wife Nell, Irvin Perry, and Marvin Bramlett.

Merle is survived by 3 sons: Glen Clary and wife Lydia of Choudrant, LA, Dennis Clary and wife Susan of Quitman, LA and Roger Clary and wife Renee of Kilgore, TX; 9 granddaughters: Dr. Delene and husband Jamie Rawls, Michelle and husband Tommy Hiltzman, Dr. Candee and husband Dr. Cliff Moore, Kari and husband Wayne Thomas, Robin and husband Jonathan Martin, Jamie and husband Jason Robinson, Elizabeth and husband Jeff Albright, Tanya Clary, Jennifer and husband Shawn Evans;  1 grandson: Jake Watts and wife Katie; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sister: Charlotte and husband Charles Greer and 2 sister-in-law's: Evelyn Davidson and Mary Wranisher.
