Funeral services for Melody Sharon Davis will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Owens Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston LA.

Melody was born on December 15, 1955 to Irene Davis in Richmond, TX.  Melody was one of 3 children: Melody, Glen, and Richard. She was raised a vast majority of her life by Mildred Davis in Los Angeles, CA. Melody graduated from Dorsey High School.

In 1978 she married Joseph Spann Sr. and unto this union two children were born, Joseph Spann Jr. and Ishimine Spann. Melody worked thirty years for LA County.  The last 14 years were for the LA County Sheriff's Department before retiring in 2003.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Irene Davis; brothers: Glen and Richard Davis and her husband Joseph Spann, Sr.

Melody is survived by her step mother, Mildred Davis; one God Sister, Joyce Hollinquest; son, Joseph Spann Jr.; daughter, Ishimine Spann; eight grandchildren: Messiah Spann, Synniah Spann, Joseph Spann III, Josiah Spann, Jayleen Spann, Caliyah Spann, Kimiya Duncan and Candice Smith. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rayshaun McAlpine, Messiah Spann, Robert King, Marcel Banks and Ross Johnson.
