Graveside services for Melba Jeanne Butler, age 91 of Hilly, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, September 4, 2020 at Beulah Cemetery, Calhoun, LA with Rev. Cory Bruce officiating.  Services will be under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Melba was born March 2, 1929 to Mathew and Ethel Fluitt in Jackson Parish, LA. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dubach. Melba loved quilting, shopping for jewelry, reading her bible and watching TV and fashion shows.

Melba is survived by her daughter: Patricia "Trissy" and husband David "Chevy" Kanavel of Dubach, LA; grandchildren: Rick Butler and wife Stacey of Haughton, LA, Brad Butler of Dubach, LA, Todd Butler and fiancé Tierney Fitch of Hilly, LA, Lyndsi "Jo" and husband Wes Jackson of Atlanta, GA, Mark Wilson Jr. and wife Mindy of Dubach, LA, Michelle and husband Glen Bagwell of Dubach, LA, Nick Kanavel of Calhoun, LA, Morgan and husband Josh Woodard of Denver, CO, Jeannie and husband Joe Middlebrooks of Warner Robins, GA; great grandchildren: Collin, Blaine, Hensley Grace, Aubrie, Callie, Noah, Kailyn, Brylee, Kayla, Paisley, Remington, Lana, Adam, Ashland, Evan, Carson and Makenna; sister: Nelda Fay Mengis of Baton Rouge, LA; brother: Wayne Fluitt of Baton Rouge, LA and numerous other family and friends.

She was preceded by her husband, Buddy Butler; son, Richard Butler and brother, Royce Fluitt.
