Funeral services for Mrs. Maxine Holtzclaw, age 81 of Simsboro, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston, LA with Dr. Randy Ray and Dr. Chris Craig officiating. Burial will follow in the Douglas Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Maxine was born August 10, 1941 in Simsboro to Thomas Eugene and Vinnie Cox Tinsley and passed away May 12, 2023 in Ruston. She was a resident of Lincoln Parish and graduated from Simsboro High School. Maxine was a member of Saint Rest Baptist Church in Dubach, LA. She was a great cook who was especially known for her tomato relish. Maxine loved to garden and could get even a stick to grow. She loved spending time outside feeding the birds. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Danny Holtzclaw; parents; and siblings: Geraldine Autrey, Thomas Tinsley, Edward Tinsley and Thelma Robinson.

Maxine is survived by her son Phil Holtzclaw and wife Becky of Arcadia, LA; daughter Paula Burgess of Simsboro; four grandchildren: Chris Holtzclaw and wife Dannah of Ruston, Lindsey and husband Hunter Carswell of Ruston, Dylan Burgess of Arcadia and Austin Burgess and wife Tori of Arcadia; seven great-grandchildren: Virginia Holtzclaw, Mary Amelia Holtzclaw, Harrison Holtzclaw, Wells Holtzclaw, Hudson Carswell, Beau Carswell and Remington Burgess; sister-in-law Sybil Foster; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and many friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Holtzclaw, Dylan Burgess, Austin Burgess, Hunter Carswell, Joe Brown and Micheal Tinsley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Rest Baptist Church in Dubach.

Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the funeral home.
