Funeral services for Mary Ellen Driggers, age 76 of Ruston, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Presbyterian Church of Ruston with Rev. Marty Jacobsen officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Born July 1, 1943 in Long Beach, California, Mary Ellen graduated from Ruston High School and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Louisiana Tech University where she received a B.A. and an M.A. in Education. She was an active member and officer in the Alpha Chi chapter of Kappa Delta and was awarded their Academic Excellence award all four years. Mary Ellen was a member of the Associated Women Students and many other organizations and honoraries and elected Whos-Who.

Mary Ellen was a founding member of the Kappa Delta Alumnae Association and elected president for several terms. She was a member of the White Rose Circle of Kappa Delta and the Order of the Emerald honoring her outstanding service to the sorority.

Mary Ellen was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Ruston, Garden Club, numerous bridge clubs, and partner of Driggers & Blackwell Enterprise, Inc. for recruiting and advertising.

Mary Ellen was known for her outgoing personality and smile. She enjoyed everything she did to the fullest. A lifetime resident of Ruston, she died Tuesday surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 54-years, Rodney L Driggers of Ruston; daughter, Eva Clair Driggers Bowles of Cumming, Ga; granddaughter, Ashley Clair Myers; grandson, McKinley Bowles; great-grandsons Aven Myers and Ryker Myers; and many cousins and friends.

Serving as pallbearers are Tommy Folk, Otis Gilley, Jerry Houston, Michael Lestage, Charles Anthony, and James Todd Driggers.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Owens Memorial  Chapel in Ruston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christian Community Action of Ruston.
