After graduating from high school, Marvin attended a prestigious electrical school and worked as an operations manager for a Dallas based radio station. He then returned to Ruston and began working at Sherrard's Radio and TV, the first radio and TV store in Ruston, which was founded by his parents, Tillman and Jane Sherrard. Marvin then founded JMS Cable after petitioning the city to install lines outside city limits. He was also founder and operator of On-Time Feeders. Marvin also taught at Ruston High Vo-Tech and was constantly inventing something new. He was a certified Ham Radio operator. Marvin loved the outdoors and riding his four-wheeler. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Marvin never met a stranger or anyone he didn't like. He had a way of making everyone feel special.

The family would like to make a special acknowledgement of gratitude to: Dr. Allen Herbert, Dr. C Mason, Dr. Harrison, Dr. Byrnes, and Dr. Tadikonda, the compassionate, skilled staff at Northern Louisiana Medical Center, and Best Home Health, who guided us every step of the way.
