Obituary

Funeral services for Margaret Lee Simpson will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Owens Memorial Chapel with Reverend Dale Oden officiating. Mrs. Simpson, age 91, a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, died on August 4, 2022 at Cedar Crest Assisted Living. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston.

She was born October 26, 1930 to Otto and Gussie Bullock Lee in Simsboro, Louisiana. She graduated from Simsboro High School, Class of 1947. She attended Louisiana Tech where she graduated in 1951 with a degree in Business Administration. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charles William Simpson; parents; brother, Wiley Lee and sisters, Edna Lee Franklin and Mary Lee Paige.

She is survived by daughter Pamela Bond and her husband Brian of Jena, Louisiana; daughter Jan Knapp of Lafayette, Louisiana; daughter Suzanne Simpson and spouse Laurie of Dallas, Texas. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Christopher Brady of Ruston, Louisiana; Joseph Brady and his wife Peyton of Texarkana, Texas; Jennifer Brady Shaw and her husband Sherrard R. III, "Bubba"; Kenneth Knapp III of Lafayette, Louisiana and William Knapp of Charleston, West Virginia. Mrs. Simpson took much pleasure in her precious great grandchildren Christian Brady of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Nathan Brady of Magnolia, Arkansas; Ryder Ponder of Texarkana, Texas; Walker and Charlie Grace Shaw of Birmingham, Alabama; Anslee and Jackson Ramirez of Texarkana, Texas and great great grandsons Kingston and Johnny Brady and great great granddaughter Arabella Brady. She was also looking forward to a new great granddaughter arriving in September, Margaret Joy "Maggie" Brady. She is also survived by sister Barbara Lee Kennimer of Houston, Texas; Betty Poston and her husband James of Vivian, Louisiana; Sue Killingsworth and her husband Ronnie of Mooringsport, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Brian Bond, Sherrard "Bubba" Shaw, Christopher Brady, William Knapp, Joseph Brady, Christian Brady and Walker Shaw. Honorary pallbearer is Nathan Brady. The family will receive friends at Owens Funeral Home in Ruston on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 12:00 noon until the service. The family would like to thank the staff at Camelot Assisted Living, Cedar Crest Assisted Living, St. Joseph's Hospice and Owens Funeral Home for their dedicated care and continued friendship.
