Leslie Lavon "Jack" Tedeton, age 85, of Downsville, Louisiana passed into his heavenly home on Sunday, September 5, 2021 after a brief illness. Visitation will be held Friday, September 10, at Calhoun First Baptist Church from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Neil Everitt officiating. Jack will be laid to rest at Spillers Cemetery in Downsville, LA following the celebration under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Jack was born May 19, 1936 in Downsville, LA. He was one of ten children born to James and Florene Tedeton. He retired after 33 years as a maintenance mechanic from Thomas Industries. Jack had a passion for farming and gardening. You could always find him in one of three places; the hay field, his gardens or sitting on his front porch. He loved visits from family and friends. His love of gardening was extended to his family and friends in the community with the produce he would share. Jack was also known to his grandchildren as "Daddy Jack" which followed him into the community.
Jack married the love of his life, Ora Annabelle "Ann" Qualls in 1958 and called Downsville, LA home. Jack and Ann were married for fourty eight and a half years until her passing in 2006. He was a devoted husband, wonderful father, grandfather, sibling, brother-in-law and friend to many. He was an active member of Calhoun First Baptist Church and loved going to his Faith Sunday school class and their functions.
Jack is survived by his children: Velma and spouse Larry Hughes of Jonesboro, LA; Leslie and spouse Keith Ezell, James Tedeton, and LaRynda and spouse Leslie Smith, all of Downsville, LA. Granddaughters: Christy Ezell of Monroe, LA; Kelly Ezell of Downsville, LA and Maddie and spouse Jesse Silas of Columbia, LA. Grandsons: Daniel and spouse Whitney Ezell of West Monroe, LA; Dennis Ezell of Monroe, LA, William Smith of Downsville, LA. Great-grandsons: Jackson Richard, Hudson Pace & Luke Ezell & great-granddaughter, Lily Silas. Sister-in-law Shirley Stockton of Clarksville, AR; brother-in-law, Robert Qualls and spouse Jan of Clarksville, AR along with many nieces and nephews.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife, "Ann" Tedeton; parents, James and Florene Tedeton; brothers: James Tedeton, William Tedeton, Huey Tedeton, and Herbert Tedeton; sisters: Lola Monk, Elsie Acree, Mary Jordan, Nellie Strickland and Florence Tedeton.
Pallbearers will be: Daniel Ezell, Dennis Ezell, Jackson Richard, Will Smith, Eddie Jordan, Frankie Tanner and Donald Jordan. Honorary pallbearers will be Men of Faith Sunday School class.
