Leonard "Lefty"
Mitchell
Dec 13, 1938 — Aug 3, 2022
Leonard "Lefty" Timothy Mitchell was born December 13, 1938 and went to be with the Lord on August 3, 2022.
Lefty was preceded in death by his parents Kathleen Hardin Mitchell and Vernon Burrel Mitchell, his sons Gregory Blake Mitchell and Vernon Keith Mitchell, his wife Delores Rose Mitchell and his sister Shirley Mitchell.
He leaves behind Kathy Loyd Mitchell, his grandchildren: Lindsey Blake Mitchell, Logann Mitchell Hatcher and husband Matthew, Trevor Kade Mitchell and wife Kayla, Mary-Micah Mitchell, Ryland Dane Barnes, Reese Hadley Gaines, Randi LeighAnn Gaines, Anna Katherine Lokey, Christopher Anderson Lokey and Milly Henley McDonald; great grandchildren: Caroline Sophia Chapa, Wells Hatcher and soon to be Lylah Mitchell; his son Lance Mitchell; daughters: Leanne Lord Mitchell, Lacy Thornhill Gaines and husband Toby, Amanda Thornhill Lokey and husband Chris, Autumn Loyd McDonald and husband Chris; one sister Glenda Mitchell Stelly and a host of nephews and nieces that he loved dearly.
Lefty's two great loves were his Lord and his family. He spent his free time hunting, fishing and hanging out with his boys talking about hunting and fishing. He taught his sons, his nephews and his grandchildren to hunt and to this day they still enjoy the sport.
Lefty was a born again Christian, he believed in the power of prayer and the hope of eternity in Jesus Christ. Though we will miss him very much we claim John 14:1-4 "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also."
Lefty left us with two great gifts. The first was the testimony of a life lived for Jesus Christ and the second was the knowledge that this very minute he is at peace with our Savior.
