Funeral services for Mrs. Leona Key, age 93, of Dubach, will be held 2:00PM, Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Hico Baptist Church with Rev. Don Cardin and Rev. Carroll Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Henry Cemetery in Hico, LA under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Mrs. Leona Lillie Sanders Key was born February 4, 1926, in Troup, TX to Lee and Clara Sanders. She died May 17, 2019 in Monroe, LA. Mrs. Key was married almost 70 years to Johnie Key before his death in 2013. She liked to go shopping and buying groceries. She was an awesome mother who had a fierce love for her children. She loved sewing, visiting the friends in the community and taking them cakes. Mrs. Key loved to read to continue her knowledge.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years: Johnie W. Key; grandson, John Thomas Key; son-in-law, Jim O'Dell; daughter-in-law, Debra Key; two brothers: Don Sanders and Cecil Sanders.
Mrs. Key is survived by: two daughters, Diana Key O'Dell of Lakewood, CO and Sue Lonadier (Kermett) of Haynesville, LA; three sons: Steve Key (Suzanne) of Bowling Green, KY, Greg Key (Vicky) of Hico, LA and Johnny Key of Hico, LA; grandchildren: Leah Key DeRouen, Holly Key Farris, Shauna Lonadier, Megan Lonadier and Christy Key Davidson; great-grandchildren: Madalyn Lonadier, Brinley Lonadier, Raylin Sellers, Cole Farris, Parker Farris, John Luke, Laurel, Nora Lee DeRouen, Tyler Davidson and Ellie Davidson.
Pallbearers will be: Steve Key, Greg Key, Kermett Lonadier, Johnny Key, Russell Barfield and Roger Warren. Honorary pallbearers will be: Roland Kay and Bart Barfield.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Monday, May 20, 2019 at Hico Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests in honor of their mother: Do a random act of kindness for a stranger.
