Obituary

Funeral services for Lena "Mama Lena" Havard, age 59 of Simsboro, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 27, 2018 at Simsboro First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Cole and Rev. Max Rasbury officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday in Gray Cemetery in Gray, TX under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.
Lena Guest Havard lost her courageous battle on July 24, 2018 and is now in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was born February 3, 1959 in Shreveport, LA and was raised in the small community of Castor, LA. She later moved to Simsboro to make her life with her beautiful family that she loved dearly with the love of her life, Sid Havard. Having God at the center of her life and putting Him first made her an example of what a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend should be. Lena loved with her whole heart and was a selfless person that was never more than a phone call away. She had a servant's heart and that was the true testament to her life, helping and serving others first. Lena was a friend to all who knew her and all who knew her loved her.
Lena worked many years at Willamette Industries/Weyerhouser Industries. Most recently she served as Secretary to the Chief of Police with the Ruston Police Department. She mostly enjoyed spending her time with her family, playing with her Pokeno group, painting, gardening, shopping, and decorating her house, especially during holidays. She loved Christmas, actually she loved any time her family could get together.
Lena was the strongest person her family ever knew. Her advice for life problems was to "pray about it". She was a pillar for her family and someone you could always count on. She meant so much to so many and her legacy will always be remembered.
Lena is survived by her husband of 25 years, Sid Havard of Simsboro; two sons: Chance Havard and wife Sarah of Carencro and Ethan Quarles and wife Kelly of Simsboro; one daughter: Tiffany Havard of Dallas; three grandchildren: Arianna, Trinity and Mackenzie; four sisters: Norma and husband Mike Rigdon of Shreveport, Glenda and husband Don Nelson of Castor, Ellen and husband Robbie Moore of Castor and Doris and husband Max Rasbury of Bienville; two brothers: Eugene Guest and wife Jan of Castor and Sidney Guest and wife Edna of Castor.
Serving as pallbearers will be Stone Rasbury, Ben Thomas, Jordan Guest, Jason Ladet, Andy Yerger, Clark Canterbury, Joseph West and Jason Guest.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Simsboro First Baptist Church in Simsboro, LA. To leave an online memorial message for the family, please visit www.owensmemorialfuneralhome.com.
