Obituary

Lee Ann Elliott McMillon was born to Frances and Rufus Lee McKinion on December 26, 1943 in Philadelphia, Mississippi. She passed away peacefully in Ruston, Louisiana on May 3, 2024.

Lee Ann grew up in Grenada, Mississippi with her aunt and uncle, Kate and Kermit Haley and her cousins, Brenda and David. As a teenager, Lee Ann moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to re-unite with her mother, her step-father, Michael Governale and her siblings, Michael Jr. and Diane.

Lee Ann graduated from Fortier High School in New Orleans. It was in New Orleans that she met her husband and father of her children, Howard Elliott. After Howard's untimely death, Lee Ann returned to Mississippi. As an adult she furthered her education at Hinds Community College in Raymond, Mississippi, graduating with a BBA from Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi. Lee Ann worked as a customer service representative for Allstate Insurance, State Farm Insurance, and Saks Fifth Avenue Corporation. Lee Ann moved to Dubach, Louisiana in 2018 to live closer to her son, Steve and his family.  She was a member of the Dubach United Methodist Church.

Lee Ann is preceded in death by her parents: Rufus Lee McKinion and Frances McKinion Governale; step-father, Michael Governale Sr.; brother, Michael Governale Jr.; spouses: Howard Lee Elliott and Freddie McMillon; son, Steve Elliott; grandson, Michael Elliott and niece Jessie Lynn Marshall.

Lee Ann is survived by her son, Darren Elliott; daughter-in-law, Deborah; grandchildren: Jonah Howard, Bethany Florence and Mary Kate Elliott; daughter-in-law, Margie Elliott; grandchildren: Eric Edwards and Jessica Chick; great-granddaughter, Nicole Chick; sister, Diane Governale Marshall; niece, Sarah Michelle Marshall; sister-in-law, Janice Governale; nephews: Michael Governale III and James Governale; numerous cousins; and extended members of the Elliott and McMillon families.

Lee Ann loved her family, was a woman of strong faith and was known for her kind and gentle nature.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Ruston Nursing Home for their care.

Final arrangements are being handled by Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston.  A family service will be held at Garden of Memories Funeral Home in Metairie, Louisiana at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024 with internment beside her late husband Howard in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, Friday, May 10, 2024 at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Metairie, Louisiana.  Burial will follow.
