Funeral services for Laverne Kirbow, age 93 of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston, LA with Brother Jeff Smart officiating. Internment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Laverne passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.  She was born November 25, 1927 in Huttig, Arkansas to Millard and Lorene Herring Hollis.  She graduated from Pollock (Louisiana) High School and attended Louisiana Tech University before marrying her husband Aron in 1946.  Laverne worked at Sears in Ruston for thirty years as store manager and then in outside sales.  After retiring, she and her husband Aron enjoyed life at their lake house on Lake D'Arbonne for many years before moving back to Ruston.  Aron and Laverne liked traveling in their RV and camping with their friends in the Caney Lake Good Sam's Club.  They recently celebrated their 75 ^th wedding anniversary on October 12th of this year.  Laverne loved cooking, sewing, flower gardening, playing cards and being with family and friends.  Laverne was a longtime active member of Cook Baptist Church and she enjoyed volunteer work at area nursing homes while she was able.

Laverne is survived by her husband Aron Kirbow and their two sons:  Steve Kirbow  and wife, Sue of Vienna, LA; and Ken Kirbow and wife, Nancy of Shreveport; one grandson, Charles Kirbow and one great-grandson, Severin, both of Vienna, LA.  She is also survived by a special lady without whom her family could not have managed:  Victoria Ferrington who cared for Laverne in her last illness.  The family thanks her for her special care and kindness.
