Funeral services for Jo Elizabeth Amis Dowdell, age 79 of Ruston will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Owens Memorial Chapel with  Alan Dowdell officiating. Burial will follow in Farmerville City Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

JoBeth was born October 8, 1940 to John Marchel Amis and Katherine Dickey Amis and passed peacefully on December 23, 2019 surrounded by her three boys.  She and Ed met in the fifth grade, were married at 18, and recently celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.  JoBeth was long-time resident of Ruston, LA. She worked for Ruston State Bank, LA Tech and retired from the Lincoln Parish Sheriff Office as a civil deputy. In addition to collecting cookbooks and fridge magnets, JoBeth's favorite thing to do was travel.  Over the years, she enjoyed trips to the UK, most countries in Europe, Alaska, China, Austrialia, New Zealand and many interesting places in the United States. She was the best wife and most awesome mom anyone could hope for- she will be greatly missed.

JoBeth is survived by her husband Ed and two sons; Alan (Tara) and John (Jennifer); brother, David; five grandchildren: Johnathan, Lauren, Tristan, Riley and Evie; niece Cheryl Marie Cooper; nephew John Marchel Amis.
