Graveside services for Mr. Jeffrey Glenn Edge, age 72 of Fredericksburg, VA will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the New City Cemetery, also known as Riverside Cemetery, in Monroe, LA with Dr. Scott Martin officiating. Burial will be held under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.
Jeffrey was born May 2, 1951 in Savannah, GA and passed from this life July 23, 2023 in Fredericksburg, VA. Growing up as an "Air Force Brat," he was able to live in many places. Jeffrey was always very active as a boy. He had a love for all sports including baseball, bowling, judo and track. Jeffrey also enjoyed his time being active in Boy Scouts. After graduating from Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA, he attended Louisiana Tech University where he studied engineering and joined the Air Force ROTC. After leaving his studies at Tech, Jeffrey went on to work in many areas of construction. He attended the George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Sciences in 1977 and studied advanced engineering education. In the late seventies, Jeffrey worked at the National Crushed Stone Association where he quickly earned the respect of his colleagues and superiors because of his work ethic. He became a talented bricklayer that was well recognized throughout the Washington, D.C. area. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents Major General Robert L. Edge and Mary Catherine Edge of Alexandria, VA; sister and brother-in-law Rebecca Lynn Roberts and Teddy Roberts of Martinsburg, WV; one niece Sara June Martin of Ruston, LA; and two great-nephews James Wyatt Martin of Ruston, LA and Robert Hamilton Martin of Ruston, LA.
Jeffrey is survived by sister Claudia Mary Martin (Scott Martin); best friend Roger Janney; nephew Geoff Martin (Hannah); nieces: Mandi Martin, Mary Walsh (Ryan Walsh) and Melea Shields (Derek Shields); multiple great-nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Edge, Skylar Walsh, Brady Walsh, Nathan Jones, Tucker Martin, Geoffrey Martin, Ryan Walsh and Derek Shields.
