Funeral services for Mr. Jason "Bird" Staples, age 44, will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, December 13, 2019 Owens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brent Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Choudrant Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mr. Staples was born July 7, 1975 in Ruston, LA to James and Jacquline Staples. He departed this life December 10, 2019.

To know Jason was to love Jason.  He was the life of the party and he kept everyone entertained.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, James Staples; grandparents Loy and Kathleen Staples; maternal grandfather, Jack Pelow.

He is survived by his mother, Jackie Staples; brother Jonathan Staples of Lafayette, LA; girlfriend Sunni Howell of West Monroe, LA; aunts: Donna husband Jake Ambrose of Choudrant, LA and Kathy and husband Gary Wedeking of Carrollton, TX; uncles Harold Staples and wife Debbie of Choudrant, LA, Leon Staples and wife Vicki of Ruston and Mike Pelow and wife Sherri of Blanchard, LA; maternal grandmother, Diane Pelow; great aunt Dolly Crabtree of Bradley, AR. As well as numerous cousins and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tristan Lay, Rod Holloway, Caleb Patton, John Frazier, Dave Audrisch and Clint Trant.

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until time of service at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate funeral fund donations.
