Graveside services for Janis Harrell Sumlin, 65 of Richardson, Tx are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 28, 2020 in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston, LA with Rev. Ronnie Sexton officiating. Services will be under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home.

Janis was born October 5, 1954 to Sterling and Mozelle Harrell in Ruston, LA and passed away on August 21, 2020 in Richardson, TX. She enjoyed gardening, live music events and visiting with family and friends. Janis enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows and sharing various topics with her many Facebook friends from Ruston and elsewhere. A wonderful sense of humor was one of her attributes.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Jennifer Luttrell of Ruston. She is survived by her husband, Jim Sumlin of Richardson, TX; son, Vernon Jones of Richardson, TX and daughter, Joanna Luttrell and granddaughter Rhianna Herlihy of Plymouth, NH; brothers: Sterling Van Harrell III and Steven Roy Harrel; sister, Lisa and husband Larry Whittington of Ruston; niece, Stacy Harrell Kinser of San Antonio, TX was also close to her Aunt Janis.
