A memorial service for Janice Marie Thornton will be held from 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Lincoln Parish Park in Ruston, LA.  Janice, age 61, passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home on January 25, 2019.

Janice was a loving and caring woman who no matter what situation she was going through, always was there for others in their time of need.   Janice was outgoing and never met a stranger, but also never had a problem with telling you what was on her mind if she had to. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Thornton, who was undoubtedly the love of her life, and by her parents, Jack and Willa Dean Cannady.

Janice is survived by her two children: daughter Heather and husband Curtis Davis and son Jason Cannady and wife Shelley; seven grandchildren: Tanner, Bryanna, Landon, Colten, Alexis, Raeleigh and Dakota, whom she loved more than anything in this world.  There was never a moment that she was not talking about her grandchildren and they were always on her mind.  She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Layfield; brothers: Jimmy Cannady and Thomas Cannady and a multitude of nieces and nephews and multiple "adopted children" who would refer to her as "Mama J".

Janice will be truly missed by her family, but the love that she gave will always remain.
