Janice
Rodrigues
Nov 16, 1944 — Jan 4, 2022
Ruston
We celebrate the life of Janice Rodrigues who went to be with her savior Jesus Christ on January 4, 2022. Jan was born on November 16, 1944 to Victor and Ruth Robinson. She was the mother of two sons, James Steven Rodrigues (Steve) and Michael Scott Rodrigues (Mickey). She is survived by six grandchildren: Jessica Hayden, Robert Rodrigues, Cody Rodrigues, Austin Rodrigues, Allison Rodrigues and Emily Rodrigues. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren; Regan Taylor, Larkin Hayden, Remington Rodrigues, Wyatt Rodrigues, Paisleigh Rodrigues, Lincoln Rodrigues and Levi Rodrigues; and her sisters Peggy Bain and Martha Fisher. Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Ruth Robinson and her sister, Ella Johnston.
Jan was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister and friend to everyone in her life. Born and raised in Ruston, LA, Jan was well known throughout her community. She is the youngest of four daughters and shared a close bond with her sisters and their families throughout the years. Jan attended Ruston High School, graduated in 1962 then went to work for Bell South where she worked until her retirement. She married Ronnie Rodrigues in 1964 and had her two boys Steve and Mickey, whom she dedicated her entire life. Jan was a humble servant; to her boys, her six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, her friends and most importantly to Jesus. Emmanuel Baptist Church was her home beginning in 1971 where she served many volunteer roles throughout the years. Her lifelong friendships meant so much to Jan. Their travels over the years, whether vacations with the kids or friend trips to Branson, created memories and stories that will last generations. Jan had many passions: Christmas, the New Orleans Saints, knitting, collecting and sharing recipe cards, baking delicious tea cakes and pound cakes, and most importantly loving on her grands and great-grandchildren. She touched so many lives over the years and never asked for anything in return. She lived Philippians 2 out in real life.
There will be a graveside service Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery just behind the Ruston High School football stadium. There will be a gathering at Emmanuel Baptist Church following the service. You are welcome to join us for this celebration of Jan's amazing life.
