Obituary

Funeral services for James Paul Myers, age 77 of Dubach, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at Owens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Paul Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

James was a man defined by love and service. As a devoted husband to Leasa for 42 years, a loving father to Missy, Tracy, Amanda, Jamey, and Adam and a cherished "papaw" to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family was the cornerstone of his life. The joy he found in his role as a grandfather to Jacob, Joshua, Bailey, Brianna, Allison, Carter, Jack and Jace, and a great-grandfather to Sawyer and Micah was evident to all who knew him.

Beyond his family, James dedicated 33 years to the Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office serving his community. His commitment to service extended to his time in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A decorated soldier, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 bronze service stars, the Republic of Vietnam campaign medal, the combat Infantryman badge, and the sharp shooter expert badge, before being honorably discharged in 1970.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Wilene Hancock Myers; 2 brothers, Jerry Myers and Donald Myers; and an infant son, James Robert Myers.

James' legacy is one of love, dedication, and service. He will be deeply missed by his wife Leasa; children and their spouses:  Missy and Jason, Tracy and Logan, Amanda and Jimmy, Adam and Priscilla, and Jamey and Candy; his brother, David Myers and wife Mavis; as well as his adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Toney, Adam Green, Jimmy Martin, Carter Green, Jack Martin, Logan Wilkerson, and Jacob Lejune. Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua Date, Dusty Bagwell, Junior Green, Kenneth Farley, and Micheal Farley.
