Funeral services for Jackie Ray Shields, age 66 of Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 15, 2026 at Owens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bob Deich officiating. Burial will follow in Carlton Cemetery in Calhoun, LA under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Jackie was born on January 26, 1960 in Monroe, LA to Valerie and Wilton Shields and he passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 in Ruston, LA. He took pride in being his own boss and worked hard throughout his life doing tractor trailer repairs. He appreciated the freedom and satisfaction that came from building his own path until his retirement in May of 2023.

Jackie was a man who truly enjoyed life, especially the freedom of the open road on his motorcycle. Riding with friends brought him great happiness, and many cherished memories were made on those journeys together. Jackie also loved spending time with family and friends, especially gathering for good meals or going out to eat at their favorite restaurants. He valued the time shared with the people he cared about most.

Jackie was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Leddie and Hodge Watson and Pamela and Hubert Shields; nephew, Stacey Russell; and brother-in-law, Jim Nobles. He is survived by his sisters, Joyce and husband James Colvin, Sue and husband Jim Prisoc, and Vicki and husband Bill Martin; brothers, Terry Shields and wife Ann, Paul Shields and wife Myra, and Ken Shields; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and aunts; and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Watson, Randy Watson, Keith Thomas, Jason Prisoc, and Joey Shields.
