Graveside services for Buddy McDaniel, 84 of Choudrant, will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 30,2020 at Douglas Cemetery in Ruston, LA., under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel of Ruston, LA. Bro. Charles Penuell will be officiating the service. The private visitation for family only for Buddy will be from 5:00 - 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston.

Huey P. "Buddy" McDaniel, son of Poly and Charlie McDaniel was born on June 25, 1936 and entered his heavenly home on September 26, 2020 at the age of 84. Buddy enjoyed being an Outdoorsman. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Buddy not only loved the great outdoors, he respected it. He believed in doing what was right at all times.

Buddy was a simple man who loved all the simple things life offered him. He did not need or want anything fancy. Buddy was happy drinking coffee at Ken's Mini Mart, picking up loose change in the parking lot, or picking up aluminum cans to recycle. His favorite time in his life was the moments he spent with his grandkids, and great grandkids. Buddy delighted in those moments with each of them. He was married to the love of his life for 60 years. They were married on June 22, 1960. Buddy was proud of his family, and he had a special bond with each of them.

Buddy is preceded in death by: parents, Poly McDaniel and wife Charlie; brother, Thomas McDaniel. Buddy is survived by his devoted wife, Sue Lane McDaniel who cared for him every day of the last year of his life; son, Jeff McDaniel; daughter, Terri Simmons and late husband Tommy Simmons; grandkids, April and husband Jason Owen, Jamie and husband Callen Owens, Lacey and husband Jasen Cooper, Joseph Simmons and wife Shelby, Daniel Simmons and fiance Kathrine Upshaw; great grandchildren: Landrie and Lane Owen, Levi Owens, Tobey, Scarlett and Inman Cooper; sisters, Helen Welch and Virginia Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews.
