Funeral services for Mr. Henry Wong will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston, LA, with Judy Spencer officiating.

Henry Wong, 68 of Ruston, LA, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Princeton Place in Ruston. Henry was born on August 1, 1950 to Jim H. Wong and Lin Quon Wong in Canton, China.

On November 22, 1963, Henry arrived at Dallas Love Field Airport from Hong Kong. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas in 1968, he applied and attended Louisiana Tech University, where he obtained a B.S. in history. After graduation, Henry returned to Dallas and worked for Texas Instruments.

In 1980, Henry with his wife Alice Wong and their 3-year-old son Robert returned to Ruston in order to start his own Chinese restaurant. Henry purchased Jade Garden, Inc. and renamed the business d/b/a Wong's Restaurant. For the next 20 years, Henry and his wife Alice enjoyed cooking for many customers and friends from Ruston and the surrounding communities. After a heart attack and stroke in September 2000, Henry had to retire and close Wong's Restaurant.

Henry loved music and watching sports especially Louisiana Tech Men's and Women's basketball programs. During his time at Louisiana Tech University, Henry was intramural table tennis champion.

Henry was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Ruston.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Sam and Huie Shee Wong; his father, Jim H. Wong; his uncle, Joe Wong; and his aunt, Huie Fay Jean Wong.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Yim Fong Wong; son, Robert H. Wong; mother, Lin Quon Wong; brother, Chuck Wong; sister-in-law, Christina Wong; sister, Emma Chew; brother-in-law, Bryan Chew, sister, Mable Wong; nephew, Christopher Chew; niece, Catherine Chew; nephew, Jonathan Chew; niece Cayley Wong; and nephew, Cody Wong. All family members reside in the Dallas Fort-Worth area.
