Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Faye Batterton, age 79 of Ruston, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston, LA with Deacon John Serio officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston, LA under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Helen was born on October 26, 1942 to Vera Marie and Mike Abraham Mickel in Alexandria, LA, and she passed away on August 17, 2022 in Ruston, LA. She enjoyed spending time with her family and doing crafts. Helen also volunteered with Christian builders out of Texas where they would build churches around the country; the men would work, and the wives would cook the meals. She was known for her chicken spaghetti. Helen would make this dish and give it to anyone with specific cooking instructions. She also enjoyed playing cards and loved to travel, especially to Branson, MO. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doyne Batterton; three brothers: Mike Mickel, Jr., Hardy Mickel, and Robert Mickel; brother-in-law, James D. Scott, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Mary Lee Mickel.

Helen is survived by her three sons: Donald Batterton and wife, Christy, Ronald Batterton and wife, Kimberley, and Michael Batterton and wife, Betty; grandchildren: Justin Batterton and wife, Kitty, Stefanie Batterton, Blake Batterton and wife, Jennifer, Shane Martin, Hayle and husband, John Houck, Maycie and husband, Derick Duncan, Baylie and husband, Cameron Hicks, Kristian Batterton, Logan Batterton, and Taylor Batterton; great-grandchildren: Lyza Martin, Alex Seymour, Gunnar Batterton, Eva Batterton, Ricky Cook, Liam Houck, Andrew Houck, Josiah Batterton, Elias Batterton, and Savannah Grace Hicks; sister, Julia Mae Scott; sister-in-law, Dorothy Mickel; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kristian Batterton, Logan Batterton, Justin Batterton, Blake Batterton, Shane Martin, and Alex Seymour. Tommy Batterton will be serving as an honorary pallbearer.
