Funeral services for Mr. Glenn Dale Phillips, age 58 of Downsville, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 12, 2023 at New Hope Baptist Church in Choudrant, LA with Bro. Caleb Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hope Cemetery in Choudrant under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Glenn passed away from this life on October 9, 2023 surrounded by family at his home. He was born on December 5, 1964 in West Monroe, LA to Henry "Jr." and Jean Phillips. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and sister Debbie Phillips Rogers. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Diona Norman Phillips of Downsville, LA; daughter Danielle and husband Brian Bailey of Hampton, AR; son Dusty Phillips and wife Tory of Siloam Springs, AR; grandchildren: Reece, Taylor, Ricky and Declan Bailey of Hampton, AR; sister Kathy and husband Ed Pyle of Grand Prairie, TX; sister Beverly and husband Danny Willis of Choudrant, LA; brother Ricky Phillips and wife Cindy of Choudrant, LA; sister-in-law Kira Norman of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law Chanda Norman of Dallas, TX; brother-in-law Jerry Norman Jr. of Vienna, VA; special "adopted grandson" Brantley Whiseant of Shongaloo, LA; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Glenn grew up in Choudrant and was a 1983 graduate of Choudrant High School. After graduating, he joined the Army National Guard and had a career in the military. While in the Army National Guard, Glenn served in active duty in Iraq and Kuwait in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. In addition to his service to his country, he spent numerous years working in the Phillips' family businesses, Phillips Glass and later Phillips Vinyl Siding. Glenn also spent years utilizing his talent and love of building cabinets. He retired from working at Camp Minden. Glenn met Diona at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Choudrant where her father served as pastor. They were married in the church they met in. They lived in Choudrant for many years and later moved to Downsville. Glenn loved his family dearly. Those of us that remember when his kids were born can attest to how proud he was to be a father to both of his precious children, and he considered them his greatest blessings. Glenn was a friendly person that didn't meet a stranger. He loved to travel and recently was blessed by going on a final vacation of a lifetime to the Grand Canyon, Colorado, Utah, Oklahoma, and Dodge City, KS. Glenn was a man that loved the Lord and his church family at New Hope Baptist Church in Choudrant. He will be greatly missed, but we are thankful for the blessing of this loving husband, son, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, nephew, cousin and friend. We will cherish the memories that we have of him. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, love and support over the past couple of years. A special thanks goes to the Heart of Hospice team.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Curry, Wess Mason, Kevin Byoune, Robin Kinsey, Chris Cole, Harry Wilson, Presley Farley and Johnny Pickett.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the church.
