Funeral services for Mrs. Glenda Gray Howell, age 75 of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston with Rev. Reggie officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth Cemetery in Dubach, LA under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Glenda was born February 8, 1948 in Homer, LA to Glen and Janice Gray and passed away April 28, 2023 in Ruston. She attended and graduated from Homer High School. Glenda married the love of her life James Henry Howell on January 11, 1965. Together, they had two sons James Glen Howell and William Lyn Howell. She attended beauty school in Minden, LA. Glenda decided to pursue a career in nursing at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston and then at Southern Arkansas University Magnolia, AR. While she ended her nursing career at Wade Correctional Center, she worked at several nursing homes in the area as well as at the hospitals in Minden, LA and in Bossier City, LA. Glenda loved to be "Granny" to James McCoy, Raymond Haskins, Francesca Carter, William Lyn Howell Jr. and Stanley Howell. When she was not being Granny, you could guarantee Glenda had some college football game on, was reading her Bible or was visiting family in Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; aunt Louise Gray Reynolds; brothers-in-law: Thomas Glen Howell, Dawson Howell and Arley Williams; and sisters-in-law: Willie Mae Howell, Nancy Howell and Nellie Gray.

Glenda is survived by her loving husband James Henry Howell; sons James Glen Howell (Marie) and William Lyn Howell (Colleen); brother Douglas Gray; and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish her memories.

Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Brown, Joe Jeffers, Austin Howell, David Wayne Howell, Frankie Jeffers and Thomas Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Gray, Robert Howell, Wayne Howell, Michael Bowwell, Kevin Howell and Eric Davis.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the funeral home
