Dorothy Hennigan Brown, age 97, passed away on September 23, 2020 at her home in Quitman, LA surrounded by her family. She was born on February 22, 1923 in Bienville, LA to Gus and Bessie Hennigan. Dorothy was married to the love of her life, Carroll Brown for 56 years.
Dorothy was a beautician most all of her life. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed feeding anyone that came by, especially for Sunday lunch. She attended Hodge Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir. Dorothy was a true woman of God who loved her church family and Sunday school class. She loved to travel with her church family to Branson, go on cruises with her family and attend family reunions at Lake O' The Pines.
Dorothy is survived by: son, Mike Brown and wife Jama of Quitman, LA; daughter, Ginger and husband Johnny Tauzin of Pearland, TX; grandchildren, Jaina and husband Drew Watson of Gulf Breeze, FL, Jill and husband Lonnie Menzina of Ruston, LA, Todd Tauzin and wife Teri of Suglarland, TX, Alan "Chief" Tauzin and wife Amber of Fort Worth, TX; great-grandchildren, Lauren Menzina and Brady Menzina, both of Ruston, LA, Jonathan Tauzin of San Antonio, TX, Ryann Tauzin of Sugarland, TX, Crockett Tauzin and Fia Tauzin both of Fort Worth, TX, Adam Watson and Will Watson Of Gulf Breeze, FL ; one great-great-grandchild, Josie Ann Hazelip of Sugarland, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Dorothy is preceded in death by: parents, Gus Hennigan and wife Bessie; husband, Carroll Brown; five brothers; one sister; and great-granddaughter, Caroline Menzina.
Serving as pallbearers will be: Jerry Hutchinson, Wilfred Foster, Ronnie Carson, Bruce Whitman, Michael Carlton and Harry Shows. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dude Turner, Butch Mathews, Robert Gammill, Don Waits, David McConathy, Verlon Rowe and Mike Lowe.
Visitation for Dorothy Brown will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 from 5-8 PM at Hodge Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Hodge Baptist Church with Bro. Norris Curry and Bro. Keith Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive East Cemetery near Quitman under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA. In lieu of flowers, please give a gift in memory of Dorothy to Hodge Baptist Church choir.
