Graveside services for Donnie Owens, age 82 of Ruston will be held at 4:00 P.M., Friday, March 26, 2021 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Dr. Reggie Bridges and Rev. Dale Oden officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:30 P.M., Friday, March 26, 2021 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA. Donnie was born on November 11, 1938 in Ruston, LA and passed away on March 22, 2021 in Ruston, LA. Donnie served eight years in the National Guard. He went on to be a barber for ten years at Ruston Barber Shop. Donnie also spent sixteen years working for South Central Bell and AT&T. For the last thirty years Donnie worked at Louisiana Tech University as a Telecommunication director.

Donnie was preceded in death by sister: Ireta Irby; great grandson: Gavyn Sweat.

Donnie is survived by wife of 63 years: Maria Owens of Ruston, LA; two daughters: Donna and husband Richard Stewart of Duncan, OK, Paula Smith of Ruston, LA; three grandchildren: Kelli and husband Kody Sweat of Rusia Springs, OK, Lane Stewart and wife Ansley of Benton, LA, Lauren and husband Devin Davis of Ruston, LA; eight great grandchildren: Ricky, J.T., Hayzel, Caiden, Kyper, Brecken, Cameron and Andi Grace; sister: Allera and husband Revis Lee of Ruston, LA.
