Choudrant

Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. Curtis Dugdale , age 80 of Choudrant, will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Alabama Presbyterian Church in Choudrant with Rev. Allison Moody and Rev. Dewayne Monk officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sibley Cemetery in Choudrant under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Curt was a hardworking man. He worked for Southern Natural Gas for eight years and then was a full-time rancher raising beef cattle, dairy cattle and later poultry.  During the time he was farming, he also owned the Ruston Farm Implements dealership for nineteen years. Curt could outwork any man half his age.  Many would tell you that he would make men out of boys by working them in the hay fields.  Curt loved to hunt squirrels and coons with his dogs, fishing, riding his mule and WORKING.  He was formerly an active deacon at Alabama Presbyterian Church and loved raising a large garden to share with the community.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Jewel Edwards Dugdale; step-father, Trustan Bryan and a brother, Joseph Dugdale.

Curt is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Frances Pilgreen Dugdale; two sons: Tommy Dugdale and wife Cindy and Duane Dugdale and wife Becky, both of Choudrant; a daughter, Cindy and husband Clay Alexander of De Berry, TX; two sisters: Bertie Rae Hammons and Judy and husband Jimmy Williams; a brother, James H. Dugdale and wife Mary; ten grandchildren: David Lee Alexander and wife Chelsea, Wyatt Alexander and wife Ashlee, Dakota Alexander and wife Hatti, Lesley Lettrell and husband Tee, Cari Dugdale, Dusty Dugdale and wife Breezy, Hunter Dugdale, Molly Dugdale, Lenae Bell and husband Shane, and Jason Owen; ten great-grandchildren and a very special friend, Randy Aaron who stopped by almost every night to check on Curt.

Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Aaron, Terry Williams, Buddy Williams, Jimmy Williams, Randy Coleman and Matt Ferguson.  Honorary pallbearers are Willie Earl Pesnell, Haskell McClinton, Laster Leachman and Larry Allen.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday, November 5, 2018 at Alabama Presbyterian Church Family Life Center.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sibley Cemetery or Douglas Cemetery.  To leave an online memorial message for the family, please visit www.owensmemorialfuneralhome.com
