Charles E
Ogden
Jan 24, 1938 — Feb 16, 2019
Ruston
Charles E. Ogden, 81, formerly of Wafer Road in Ruston passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's on February 16, 2019 at Northern Louisiana Medical Center. Charles was preceded in death by his son, Michael Charles, and loving wife, Joyce Pike Ogden.
Charles was born on January 24, 1938 in Spearsville, LA, the son of late Monroe and Martha Autis (Seale) Ogden. Shortly, after graduating from Ruston High School in 1956 he enlisted in the National Guard and served until what year we don't remember. On November 4, 1958, he wed his sweetheart, the former Joyce E. Pike of Simsboro, with whom he would go on to share more than thirty-two years of marriage.
He worked with father and brother at Ogden's Mobile Station in downtown Ruston until he and his wife, Joyce ventured out on their own to open Ogden's General Store around 1977. Several years later, an opportunity opened up at the Meat Lab, that started his 23 year career with Louisiana Tech University, where he eventually retired.
Charles lived life fully, experiencing all the world offered by chasing his passions and creating adventures for others. He had a great love for the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. He spent his time travelling to far reaches of the US hunting, camping, fishing and having a good 'ol time with his friends and family.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his only daughter Kay and her husband Larry, his grandchildren Ashley, Haley, and Nicholas, his great-grandchildren Remy, Layla, Lathen, Mason and Darby; and by his sister Martha and her son Eddie, brother Ken and his wife Jackie and their children Chris and Kimberly.
Visitation will be held at 5 pm on Monday, February 18th at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. The graveside service will be officiated by Tommy Gray of Faith Baptist (Winnfield) at 2 pm on Tuesday, February 19th at Cook Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
