Charles Frederick Lorenson was born on May 24, 1937 in Mason City, WA at the foot of the Grand Coulee Dam. His father, Charles William, was a steel worker for Kaiser Steel helping to build the superstructure.  His mother Hazel and two older sisters Wanda and Loraine rounded out the family.

The steel work was done. They moved to Stockton, CA at the mouth of the San Francisco delta where his father worked building ships for WWII. Charles grew up in Stockton, CA. He played the clarinet in the marching band in high school where he met his wife, Lynn who also played the clarinet. They married August 31,1957. He died September 1, 2020 one day after their sixty-third anniversary. He was among the first contingent of reserve sailors and marines to be called to active duty in Vietnam where he served on the destroyer escort, Alvin C. Cockrell 366. Waiting at home were his wife, Lynn, and baby son, Kirk. He took advantage of the GI Bill to make a career change from electrical engineering to psychology. He received a MS degree in clinical psychology, marriage and family counseling and educational psychology.  Charles worked in the field until he retired in 1995.  He always was a "carguy" starting with a 1948 Ford Coupe, lowered and molded with straight dual pipes.  After retirement he got back into the car scene with a 1956 Chevy Bel Air, hard top all chromed out.  He enjoyed entering car shows and won many trophies.  California had lost its golden glow.  At the urging of cousins in the John Goertz family the move was made to Ruston in November 2015.

Charles is survived by his wife Lynn and son Kirk.  His parents, older sisters and younger sister Loretta preceded him in death.

Burial at a later date will be at a VA cemetery.  Donations may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
