Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Joe "BJ" Harrell, age 74 of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Salem Methodist Church in Dubach, LA with Rev. Keith Smith officiating and Byron Caldwell interpreting. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery in Dubach under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

BJ was born March 31, 1949 in Ruston to Billy Joe and Mary Estelle Henry Harrell and passed away November 19, 2023 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. He was married to his wife and life partner Zella Ann Harrell for 38 years. BJ enjoyed traveling, sports, woodworking projects, the outdoors – especially hunting and fishing, LSU and New Orleans Saints football. He held various jobs throughout his lifetime, but his favorite would have been the positions he held within both the Deaf Action Center and the Deaf Communities. BJ was a member of First Pentecostal Church in Crossett, AR where he enjoyed learning, singing, praising and the fellowship of his church family. He was preceded in death by his beloved father Billy Joe Harrell.

BJ is survived by his mother Mary Estelle Henry Harrell of Dubach; wife Zella Ann Stanley Harrell of Monroe; children Judy (Kevin) Roane of Ruston and Kelly (Melissa) Amos of Calhoun, LA; siblings: Jerry (Francis) Harrell of Shreveport, LA, William "Donnie" (Beverly) Harrell of Dubach and Dell H. Wood of Dubach; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Byron and Kimberly Caldwell of Crossett; longtime friend Larry Williams of TX; his pet of 14 years "Bubbles;" and a host of other family and many friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the medical staff located in or affiliated with St. Francis Medical Center that BJ saw on a regular basis throughout the last years of his life.

Serving as pallbearers will be Donnie Harrell, Danny Harrell, Dustin Harrell, Kelly Amos, Robert Browder, Dustin Roane and Kevin Roane.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston.
