Funeral services for Bettie Merritt, age 81 of Dubach, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston, LA with Rev. Dewayne Ramsey officiating.  Burial will follow in Minden Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.

Bettie was born July 30, 1940 in Hico, LA to Arthur and Annie Mae Brown and passed away February 9, 2022 in Ruston, LA.  She retired from Louisiana Tech and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.  Bettie liked her housekeeping, gardening and loved flowers of all kinds.  She was a firecracker and enjoyed life to the fullest.  Bettie loved her son-in-law, Daniel.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tammy Merritt; two sisters:  Bobbie Jean Couch and Linda Gail Griffith and two brothers:  Nolen G. Brown and Billy Brown.

Bettie is survived by her three daughters:  Tana Johnson of Simsboro, LA; Michelle Merritt of Dubach, LA; and Jackie and husband, Daniel Dotson of Dubach, LA; ten grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Nickelous Currington, Joshua Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Donny Oliver, Parker Lewis, and Cody Schultz.
