Barney Joe Sumrall, Sr., age 95, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 in Ruston, LA. He leaves the love of his life, Frances Marion Glenn Sumrall. They celebrated their 71 ^st wedding anniversary on July 28, 2022 with their daughter, Emily Sumrall Hart, and numerous friends and family.

Mr. Sumrall is preceded in death by his son, Barney Joe "Jody" Sumrall, Jr.; parents, Ella Delia and William Henry Sumrall; two brothers; and one sister.

Barney was born on January 22, 1927 in El Dorado, AR to Ella Delia and William Henry Sumrall. The family moved to Ruston, LA in 1940. They joined the Temple Baptist Church and have been life long members. Barney graduated from Ruston High School, served in the US Infantry, and graduated from Louisiana Tech with Frances in 1951.

Barney is survived by his wife, Frances Sumrall; daughter, Emily Sumrall; daughter-in-law, Donna Sumrall; brother, Mickey Sumrall and wife, Carolyn; five precious grandchildren; ten sweet as pie great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Temple Baptist Church in Ruston, LA.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
