Barbara B
Nunn
Aug 22, 1932 — Aug 15, 2019
Dubach
Barbara Mae Brewster Nunn, age 86, of Dubach, died August 14, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Rock Corner Baptist Church. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Choudrant under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA,
Barbara was born August 22, 1932 to Norman and Lois Brewster. She grew up in the Ruston area and graduated from Ruston High in 1950, where she participated in some of the first female sports. After graduating from high school she married John E. Nunn when he returned from military service. Together they had four girls: Lois Helen, Doris Faye, Nora Kay and Lisa Lorraine. Barbara enjoyed sewing for her family, music, singing and dancing. She wrote poetry; frequently, you would find notebooks filled with sweet poems she had written lying around the house. Barbara was always looking to learn something new, whether it was returning to college after her family was raised or taking a painting class. She had a diverse work history, ranging from local meter maid to inspector at the local glass plant to becoming a private investigator in her sixties, because "Who pays attention to the little old lady?" Later after retirement, she enjoyed visiting with friends and family and she loved to see all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara maintained her fiesty and sassy personality until her death. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Lois and Norman Brewster, husband, John E. Nunn; brother, Calvin Brewster; sister, Miriam "Othell" Armstrong; grandsons: Jarrell "Junior" Young, Zachery Byrd, Michael Roton and Owen Ewing.
Barbara is survived by daughters: Helen (J.W.) Young, Doris (David) Byrd, Nora (Matthew) Ferguson and Lisa (Chris) Roton; her sister, Mona Hayes; her brothers: James "Buddy" Brewster and Ross Brewster; her grandchildren: Jarrell Young, William Young, Patricia Malone, Zachery Byrd, Amanda Golay, Kane Ferguson, Heath Mullins, Deanna Nunn, Valerie Roton, Heather Roton, Michael Roton and Christopher Roton, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be William Young, Terry Barnett, Heath Mullins, Kane Ferguson, Doug Brewster and Gene Malone. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Byrd, Matt Ferguson, Jarrell Young, Ross Brewster and James Brewster.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time Saturday at the church.
