Barbara Lee Kennimer, age 88, a resident of Houston, Texas, passed away on September 14, 2026. She was a native of Simsboro, Louisiana, born the fifth child of Vincent Otto and Gussie Bullock Lee. Growing up the “littlest Lee” had its advantages and disadvantages; more of the first than the latter. With three older sisters to care for her every need and her big brother, Wiley, to tote her around, she was much loved! All the Lee children worked alongside their father on the farm. It was her daddy who shortened her name from Barbara to “Bob” and, as most nicknames do, it stuck.
Barbara was a graduate of Simsboro High School, Class of 1956. She married Glynn Raymond Kennimer of Choudrant, LA and together they reared four children: Robin; Glynn, Jr.; Amy; and, Judd. The Kennimer family were Texans, first living in Arlington, Texas before moving to the Bedford, Texas community and finally settling in Houston. Mrs. Kennimer was employed by the Spring Branch Independent School District where she served as a nurse’s aide, ultimately retiring from the districts’ Career Center.
Mrs. Kennimer is survived by her daughter, Robin Kennimer Chrislip and husband, Henry Rodriguez of Houston, Texas; her son, Juddson L. Kennimer of Pearland, Texas; and, a cherished grandson, Jayce Kennimer of Atlanta, Georgia. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Roland Kennimer and Curtis Don “Donnie” Kennimer; and, a sister-in-law, Claudine K. Greer, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kennimer was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Glynn Raymond Kennimer; her beloved children: Amy Kennimer McWilliams and Glynn R. Kennimer, Jr., as well as her siblings and their spouses.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Barbara Lee Kennimer will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9 AM with the service at 10 AM in the chapel. Interment will follow in the Simsboro City Cemetery, Simsboro, Louisiana under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
