Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Hawthorne, age 80 of Ruston will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Dayspring Ministry in Ruston, LA with Bro. J.E. Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Vienna Cemetery, Vienna, LA under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Barbara was born March 23, 1940 to Malcom and Mildred Otwell in Ruston, LA and died August 5, 2020 in Ruston. She loved children and spent many years providing daycare and the school system. Barbara enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, making ceramics and selling them. She was a member of Dayspring Ministry and loved the Lord and the Lord's work.  She loved being with people.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, Arbie Hawthorne and her parents.

Mrs. Hawthorne is survived by her son, Jason Hawthorne of Ruston, LA; sister, Linda and husband John Lawless, Jr. of Ruston, LA; nieces: Angela and husband Jerry Yarborough of Ruston, LA and Karen Davis of Shreveport, LA; nephews: Scotty Franklin and wife Patsy of Shreveport, LA and Darryl Franklin of Shreveport, LA; sister-in-law, Rheba Rivers of Shreveport, LA and her special grandchildren: Millie Grace and Aiden.

Serving as pallbearers will be James Schultz, Jerry Yarborough, Bobby Mizell, Drew Spillers, Tim Frachiseur and John McCorkle.
