Obituary

Funeral services for Anna Wharton, age 46 of Ruston, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, February 18, 2022 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston with Rev. Tino Trevino officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA

Anna was born March 12, 1975, in Houston, TX.  Before Anna took ill, she worked as a secretary at Charlie's Auto Repair, where she created a great rapport with anyone she encountered.  Anna had many friends that warmed her heart, and that she talked to on a daily basis.  She was most often the lending ear for so many.  Her children were her driving force for all her actions.  Sydney made her feel proud, as if she made the most handsome son alive!  And Mackenzie was her mini-me, and talked about how she was just as she was, when she grew up.  She knew of Mackenzie's potential, and always expressed that she wanted Mackenzie to see it too.  Anna was her sister Monica's safe haven.  When they were little, and felt in fear of the unknown, Anna assured her little sister she would always protect her. And this was what Anna was best at, making her loved ones feel safe.  Anna had a love of music, and was always the go-to person when you wanted to remember a song.  She loved singing, and would always chime in when songs were being played, or her favorite 80's song was blaring on the radio.  She is survived by her son, Sydney A. Ross and her daughter, Mackenzie A. Ross both of Ruston.  She was loved for 23 years by her children's father, Bruce Ross of Ruston.  Anna was blessed to have her father Eduardo Castillo Sr., and wife Juanita, of Lufkin, TX, who both contributed to raising her.  Biological mother Bunny Lynn Smith of Lufkin, TX, who is deceased, was sister to her living, adopted mother Ginny Cyd Preston, of Ruston. Our Anna had two surviving sisters, Monica and husband Michael Ferrell of Ruston, and Virginia Wharton, of West Monroe.  She is also survived by her two brothers Eduardo Castillo Jr. and wife Maribel of Hudson, TX, and Jose Castillo Sr., and wife Claudia of Hudson, TX.  She tickled the hearts of all her nephews and nieces.  Eduardo and Maribel's children are son Aviel, and daughters Yaretzi, Alizah, and Mia.  Jose and Claudia's children are sons Roberto, Jose Jr., and daughter Sarahi.  Lastly, Monica and Michael's daughter, Grace.
