Funeral services for Abner Norman, age 81 of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 6, 2021 at Owens Memorial Chapel with Pastor Chris Witt and Rusty Strozier officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ruston under direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.

Abner was born September 9, 1940 in Jena, LA and passed away December 3, 2021 in Ruston, LA.  He retired from the City of Ruston with 30 years as a mechanic in the electrical department and drove dump trucks after that.  Abner loved to fish and squirrel hunt and he loved his grandkids and his great-grandbaby.  Abner was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Norman; mother, Gladys Brown Norman; brother, Travis Norman; sister, Avis Hinton; brother-in-law, Jimmy Hall and grandson, Gary Baldwin.

He is survived by his wife or 41 years, Judy of Ruston; son, Stacy Norman and wife, Sheila of Ruston; daughters: Memory Whittington of Ruston and Kala and husband, Arthur Butter of Alexandria; grandchildren: Savannah Norman of Ruston, Justin Norman and  Morgan of Simsboro, Emily White and fiance', Dewayne Traylor of Georgetown, Zoie Whittington of Ruston, and Timothy Baldwin and wife, Mickie of Dry Prong; great-granddaughter, Lucille "Lucy" Rose Traylor of Georgetown; sister, Oneida Hall of Jena; two special nieces: Kristy Ford of Jena and Kim and husband Justin Pool of Calhoun and lifelong friend, John Whittington.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Adkins, Danny Atkins, Arthur Butter, Justin Norman, Justin Pool, and John Whittington.  Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Colvin, Mike Colvin, Lavelle Singleton, Rusty Strozier and Michael Ward.
